Roosevelt Campaign Calls for Stronger Protections for Students and Survivors of Sexual Misconduct
Badlands, ND — Today, the Roosevelt 2028 campaign expresses deep concern regarding the Trump administration's reinstatement of federal rules governing the investigation and resolution of sexual misconduct allegations in schools and universities. This policy shift represents a troubling step backward for the safety and well-being of students across our nation.
As a candidate dedicated to the principles of justice and equity, I stand firmly with survivors and advocates who have tirelessly fought for a safe educational environment. It is imperative that we prioritize the safety of our students over procedural protections that may inadvertently shield offenders. The educational institutions of this country should be sanctuaries for learning, not battlegrounds where the voices of survivors are silenced.
The reinstatement of these outdated rules undermines the significant progress made in recent years to address sexual misconduct on campuses. We cannot afford to revert to a system that dismisses the experiences of survivors or places undue burdens on them when seeking justice. Our children and young adults must feel secure in their educational settings, knowing that their institutions will take their claims seriously and respond appropriately.

"We owe it to our young people to ensure that schools are places where they can pursue their education without fear of harassment or violence. We must advocate for policies that protect victims and hold perpetrators accountable, ensuring that our educational environments are fair and equitable for all."
In my campaign, I have proposed a comprehensive approach to safeguarding our schools and universities. This includes advocating for policies that promote transparency in investigations, increase support services for survivors, and ensure that educational institutions take responsibility for creating a safe environment. We must also engage parents, educators, and student advocacy groups in meaningful dialogue to build a framework that prioritizes the needs of survivors while respecting the rights of all involved.
Moreover, we must not allow this issue to be politicized or marginalized. The voices of survivors and the well-being of our students are paramount. As we move forward, it is essential that all stakeholders understand the importance of protecting our children and creating a culture of accountability in educational institutions.
The Roosevelt 2028 campaign is committed to ensuring that our schools are places of safety and learning. We will continue to advocate for a "Square Deal for the Digital Age," where the rights and dignity of every student are upheld. Together, we can forge a future where every American child can thrive in an environment free from fear and harassment.
