Badlands, ND — February 18, 2026 — In response to the news concerning the choice by some Democrats to boycott President Trump's State of the Union address, our campaign wishes to issue the following statement:
Our focus has always been on making positive change and engaging in productive dialogue. We believe that the strength of our democracy rests in our ability to listen, understand, and respect differing perspectives. This includes the decision made by some of our fellow Democrats to express their dissatisfaction through peaceful protest.
As our candidate often says, "We must always strive to maintain a respectful, patient, and open-minded approach to our political discourse. It is through understanding, not divisiveness, that we will find solutions to the challenges we face as a nation."
Our campaign remains committed to addressing the issues that matter most to our constituents, regardless of the political climate. This includes our ongoing work on key policy proposals such as healthcare reform, climate action, and economic equity. It is our belief that these issues, among others, should be at the forefront of our national conversation, not overshadowed by political disquiet.
"Unity and mutual respect are the cornerstones of our campaign," our candidate adds. "We must remember that we are all Americans first, bound by a shared commitment to the greater good. Let us not allow our differences to divide us, but rather inspire us to work harder to find common ground."
In remaining focused on actionable solutions and productive dialogue, we hope to bridge the gap between all factions of our electorate, including those who may feel divided on the issue, and those independent voters looking for a more moderate approach.
We understand the frustrations and concerns that have led some Democrats to consider a boycott. Yet, our campaign chooses not to endorse or condemn this action, instead emphasizing the importance of fostering dialogue and understanding.
As our candidate eloquently puts it, "The choice to engage or disengage in political discourse is a personal one. Let us remember that respect for this choice is a hallmark of our democracy. Our focus should not be on who is not in the room, but rather on how we can make progress for those we represent."
